Manilaball Vanilla is the capital cityball and second largest city of Philippinesball (Quezon City beat him in size, but their relationship is totally fine.). He is having issues on urban planning. Manilaball is the densest cityball in the world (according to 2017 statistics) and can be File:Paris-icon.png Parisball of the east!
Sometimes File:Manila-icon.png Manilaball is considered to be Quezon Cityball, Makatiball, Pasayball and other cityballs around him totaling about 23 million people which makes him the 4th largest cityball in the world as File:Manila-icon.png NCRBall!
History
Manila was born as a Malayo-Polynesianball who later grew up as File:Kingdom of Tondo-icon.png Tondoball and became into rich country. He was anschlussed twice, first by File:Majapahit2-icon.png Majapahitball and then by Bruneiball.
He was later anschlussed by Spainball when Spanish settlers from both Spainball (mostly Andalusiaball but also Cataloniaball and Basqueball) and Mexicoball arrived in Philippinesball's clay.
After he got anschlussed by Spainball he was turned into ManilaRawr, being connected to Latin America via the Manila-Acapulco galleon making him into more prosperous. He also faced radical Christianization that made him and his father into Catholic.
Spainball also created an area for the Chinese settlement which later into becoming Binondoball, the oldest Chinatown in the world. Later during the 7 Year's War UKball r*ped Manilaball and made it his colony.
After Mexicoball became independent, Philippinesball ended up under direct File:Captaincy-icon.png Spanish rule. But it didn't last long because of File:Rizal-icon.png Jose Rizal, whose publication of Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo sparked a rise in nationalism.
After getting exiled to Zamboangaball's clay, Rizal formed La Liga Filipina. One of its members, Andres Bonifacio, formed File:Katipunan-icon.png Katipunanball later. Katipunan stayed secret, but when Spainball discovered it in 1896, she accidentally sparked the Philippine Revolution.
File:Katipunan-icon.png Andres Bonifacio then succeeded in making Philippinesball independent from Spainball. Thus the First Republic of the Philippinesball was born. Bonifacio was succeeded by Emilio Aguinaldo in 1904.
Manilaball then ended up being put through American influence throughout the first half of the 20th century. Protestantism, secularism, American-style education and English were carried by American immigrants from the western states, although they left in the 1960s and 1970s.
Then File:Japanese-Empire-icon.png Japanball occupied his clay during World War 2, creating the puppet state of File:Second Philippine Republic-icon.png the Second Philippine Republicball. From February 3-March 3, 1945, the battle between Japanball and the USAball destroyed Manila.
Japanball proceeded to murder and/or r*pe the inhabitants of Manila in retaliation, in what they now call the Manila Massacre. Philippinesball was into liberated at last on July 4, 1946. Manilaball was once again the Capital City of the Philippines, but this changed in 1948, as Quezon Cityball inherited the throne.
Nevertheless, Manilaball entered the golden age with the election of Arsenio Lacson as mayor and Manilaball was once again known as the Pearl of the Orient. In 1975, Manilaball, along with 17 cities and municipalities, were separated from the provinces of Caviteball, Rizalball and Bulacanball, and became known as Metro Manilaball. Along with this, Manilaball returned to becoming the capital.
When File:Marcos-icon.png Ferdinand Marcos established martial law, Manilaball was a hotbed for resistance against the File:Fourth Philippine Republic-icon.png Marcos dictatorship. Rizal Park was a particular point for political rallies by both Marcos and Corazon Aquino. Youth and student demonstrators also fought police and military forces. This culminated in the EDSA Revolution and the overthrow of Marcos in 1986.
After Corazon Aquino's ascent to the Presidency, Manilaball saw six unsuccessful coup attempts. Alfredo Lim was elected Mayor in 1992, and became wildly popular thanks to his anti-crime crusades. His successor, Lito Atienza saw the renovation of Manilaball's plaza and other projects that benefitted Manilaball's citizens.
However, the relationship between the two turned bitter, and they would compete with each other for Mayorship until 2013. Manilaball also experienced a second EDSA, this time overthrowing Joseph Estrada.
In the 2013 elections, Joseph Estrada became the new Mayor of Manilaball. He was widely known for demolishing, gutting out, or approving the demolition of numerous heritage sites, such as the Santa Cruz Building, Capitol Theater, El Hogar, old Magnolia Ice Cream Plant, and Rizal Memorial Stadium. Aside from this, Manilaball became the most competitive Cityball in Philippinesball during Noynoy Aquino's presidential term. By May 2019, Manilaball was in a lot of debt, a 4.4 Billion Peso Debt.
Isko Moreno was elected Mayor in the 2019 elections, beating Estrada. His mayorship is the opposite of what Estrada did, where he restored most of Manilaball's original heritage sites, including the Kartilya ng Katipunan park, Lagunsilad Underpass, the Jones Bridge, and cleaning up many parts of Manilaball, including Binondo, from garbage and illegal vendors. Several ordinances were also signed, giving additional perks and privileges to Manilaball's senior citizens, and monthly allowances for Grade 12 students in all public schools in the city.
Taal Volcano erupted from neighboring Caviteball and Batangasball on January 12, 2020 and COVID-19 entered Manilaball on January 30, 2020, which caused a serious high demand for N95 masks. On March 15, 2020, when local COVID-19 cases were rising, President File:Duterte-icon.png Duterte placed the city and the entire region of Metro Manila under a community quarantine, eventually expanding to the entirety of Luzon Island under a "enhanced community quarantine" on March 16, 2020. As of August 5, 2021, Metro Manilaball's cases number at 559K confirmed cases, 536K recovered, and only 8.34K deaths, and with the Delta Variant running rampant with 48 cases of it, it's safe to say that Metro Manilaball will experience one hell of a time.
Pushing aside the effects of COVID-19, Manilaball today is one of the fastest growing cities in the world. With an area of 16.56 square miles, Manilaball is the most densely populated city proper in the world, with a density of 107,520 people per square mile. Manilaball's architecture mixes Malay, Spanish, Chinese, and American architectural styles together, reflecting Manilaball's colonial past. Manilaball is rampant with numerous shopping malls, including malls in Binondo, and malls owned by SM and Robinsons, and is a prime tourist destination, welcoming one million tourists each year.
